You can stay in an apartment here short term via Airbnb. But if you want something more permanent, an apartment in Erno Goldfinger’s Trellick Tower, London W10 has just gone on the market.

And to be honest, they don’t come up as often as they used to and when they do, prices are on the rise. We featured a three-bedroom maisonette back in 2011 that was up for £499k. You will be looking at a lot more for this one.

As you probably know, you are looking at a brutalist icon dating back to the late 1960s (but finished in the early 1970s) and a building with a grade II* listing in recognition of its architectural importance. Essentially this is the ‘poster boy’ (or girl) for brutalism in the UK and as such, is always a popular place to live.

As I said, they are rare to the market as either sales or rentals and I do look quite regularly for them. That’s perhaps because the majority are still in the hands of council tenants, as the building was (of course) designed for social housing, so only a minority ever hit the open market. This is one such case.

For better sort worse (depending on your love of heights), this apartment is very high up too. Trellick Tower has 31 floors, with the three-bedroom maisonette being offered for sale located on the 23rd floor, with entry on the 24th floor.

You can take the amazing views for granted or see some examples on this page, with the London scenery available to view via the windows or from the two south-west facing balconies.

As for living space, the internal accommodation covers around 1,128 sq. ft. and once ob the 24th floor, you can access the entrance hall with utility cupboard, storage, and a separate WC.

Take the steps down to the 23rd floor and you will find three bedrooms, a family bathroom, and a large living room. There is an additional balcony on this level which can be accessed via one of the bedrooms and the living room.

According to the agent, the apartment has ‘excellent proportions’, ‘high levels’ of natural light and ‘good’ storage, including built-in wardrobes in one of the bedrooms. The heating and hot water are run off a communal system, which is covered by the service charge.

Fancy it? Well, we probably need to look at the price before you commit to anything. The asking price for this maisonette is £795,000, but the agent also adds that ‘a major works bill’ of approximately £40,000 will be payable on completion of current works. Something to budget for, as well as the service charge of £4,000 per annum.
