We first flagged this up in 2011, mentioning that this 1930s Oliver Hill-designed five bedroom art deco house in Frinton-On-Sea, Essex perhaps isn’t quite what you expect on the inside. It seems to be back on the market with the same distinctive interior – but for a much cheaper price.

From the outside, it’s stunning, the owners really have done done a great job with the renovation with the exterior, recreating a stunning period house. But the inside? That could be a different matter.

The appeal of that is perhaps down to personal taste. Inside, the house is incredibly stylised and has obviously been on the receiving end of a lot of investment. Look beyond the decor and furnishings and it is a fairly blank canvas. But the fittings are very bold, which might cloud your initial view of this. Don’t let it – decorating is decorating. The structure and layou of the house itself is the important thing here.

That space is great and the structural renovation is just fine by us. Head into the entrance porch and hall and you’ll find a cloakroom/shower, lounge/diner, a high-end fitted kitchen, rear lobby, utility room and (amazingly) a gym on the ground floor.

Head upstairs and from the L-shaped landing, there’s the master bedroom with balcony, a second and third bedroom with a balcony, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. Outside, there’s a front and rear garden (the latter with jacuzzi) and a large garage.

If you fancy taking it on, the price, when we first featured it, was £780,000. it is now up for sale for £650,000. Ok, not cheap, but certainly much cheaper than it was.
